Royal Caribbean uses ships to assist victims Hurricane Irma

Royal Caribbean is working with US and local governments to assist victims of Hurricane Irma on St. Thomas, St. Maarten and Key West. The cruiseline is dispatching 3 ships to evacuate victims and deliver supplies.

In a statement on their website Royal Caribbean says: “We are mobilizing ships and supplies to help people in need. In coordination with the US and local governments we are dispatching ships to St. Thomas and St. Maarten and stand ready to assist Key West, and other locations. Adventure of the Seas made a humanitarian stop in St. Maarten on Sunday and Majesty of the Seas will make humanitarian calls in St. Thomas and St. Maarten to provide supplies and also assist in transporting evacuees in St. Maarten to safety. Additionally, we have Empress of the Seas ready to assist Key West once the impact of the storm is known.”

Royal Caribbean has cancelled 2 cruises to be able to help:

  • Empress of the Seas: Cuba cruise (13 september)
  • Majesty of the Seas: Bahamas cruise (15 september)
