The Great American Eclipse as seen from space

Scientists of the UW–Madison’s Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) observed the Great American Eclipse through the eyes of one of the world’s most advanced weather satellites, GOES-16.

Every 5 minutes a photo was taken. When these photos are shown in sequence, you can see the shadow of the moon cross the USA from west to east.
